Help Law Students Gain Real-World Work Experience
07/15/2025
Interested in helping McKinney law students gain practical lawyering skills? Consider serving as a supervising attorney for a law student extern! Over 150 McKinney students apply for externships each semester through the school, where students will receive academic credit for real-world legal work. We are looking for more partnerships to help meet the need for additional hands-on learning opportunities for our students.
Students must complete 45 hours of work per credit hour over the course of a semester. Externships may be paid or unpaid. McKinney does not currently permit academic credit for placements with private law firms.
If you or your organization is interested in learning more about taking on a law student extern, please contact Director of Externships Mary Morris at morrmary@iu.edu.
