Judge Magnus-Stinson Moderates Discussion with Justice Jackson
07/17/2025
Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson, J.D. ’83, moderated a discussion with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on July 10 in Indianapolis. Justice Jackson was the featured guest at a sold-out luncheon hosted by the Indianapolis Bar Association.
Justice Jackson talked about her growing up and pathway to the legal profession during her discussion with Judge Magnus-Stinson. She attended Harvard for both her undergraduate and legal studies, and clerked at the district, circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court levels. She emphasized the importance of clerking because it teaches litigators to see cases from a judge’s perspective. In addition, she also worked as a public defender, making her the only Supreme Court justice to have served in that capacity.
Justice Jackson is the author of Lovely One, her memoir, published in 2024. Each of the more than 1,000 guests at the luncheon received a copy.
