Daniel Griffith, J.D. '90, has written a book, Everyday Mediator: Seven Practices for Navigating Conflict, which is available on Amazon. Griffith teaches mediation practice as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney.
“This book is intended as a guide for professionals and other individuals to develop and utilize their innate skills to help others navigate conflict through mediation and similar facilitated conversations," Griffith said. "It is informed by many years of providing mediation training and education in multiple contexts, including of course my work with McKinney students over many years."
Griffith recently retired from IU Indianapolis where he served as director of Conflict Resolution and Dialogue Programs, in which he directed initiatives focused on facilitating dialogues, public forums and other communication processes involving issues of social justice and civil discourse. An attorney and registered civil mediator, he specializes in mediating employment, management and higher education disputes and training lawyers, HR professionals, and managers in mediation, negotiation, communication, and dialogue skills. He also provides training and consultation on diversity, HR, leadership, and conflict management issues for non-profits, colleges and universities, government agencies, businesses, and professional associations. In addition to his teaching at IU McKinney, Griffith teaches negotiation and alternative dispute resolution at the IU O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
