IU McKinney's Law Library Launches "Legal Tech Toolkit Series" to Equip Law Students with Emerging Tech Skills
10/14/2025
The Ruth Lilly Law Library at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law launched the Legal Tech Toolkit Series, a new educational initiative designed to prepare law students for the evolving landscape of legal practice through hands-on training in emerging legal technologies.
The series began with “Head-to-Head” AI in Legal Research, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and presented by Professor Tamara Rogers. This interactive workshop featured a comparative analysis of leading AI legal research tools and explored the ethical considerations surrounding their use in legal practice.
To ensure accessibility for all students, each session in the series will be offered twice—once in person and once remotely via Zoom—accommodating both day and hybrid students.
“Legal technology is enhancing how lawyers research, analyze, and deliver legal services,” said Joe Lawson, the law library's associate director. “This series empowers our students to critically engage with these tools and understand how to use them in a way that’s consistent with high ethical standards.”
Upcoming sessions will include topics such as data analytics, free and low-cost GenAI tools, and using AI for case management. Students are encouraged to RSVP through the Law School event calendar and attend upcoming sessions to gain practical insights and skills that will enhance their legal careers.
