09/19/2013
Dean Andrew Klein took part in a panel discussion as part of the Indiana Violence Forum on September 19 at the Indiana War Memorial.
Sponsored by the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law, IU School of Medicine, IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, and the University of Indianapolis, the interactive forum was put together to give participants opportunities to discuss the causes of and new solutions to violence in Indiana.
In addition to Dean Klein, those attending the invitation-only event included Indiana Governor Mike Pence, ’86; Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter, Indianapolis Public Safety Director Troy Riggs, and U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana David Capp, as well as public safety officials, mayors, prosecutors, clergy, citizens, and members of academia from across the state. Peter Beering, ’86, of Beering Enterprises, also was a panelist.
The law school has hosted events of a similar theme through the Global Crisis Leadership Forum. The forum is a joint initiative of the law school and IU’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
