Professor Nehf Quoted in Third Circuit Case FTC v. Wyndham

IU McKinney Professor James P. Nehf is quoted in a footnote in a decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit concerning the Federal Trade Commission’s ability to take action against companies that fail to protect consumer data.
The judges in the case, Federal Trade Commission v. Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, found that the FTC has the authority to take action against companies that fail to protect consumer data.
Professor Nehf, an internationally recognized expert in consumer privacy and financial services law, is quoted in footnote number five, which appears on page 19 of the opinion. The judges refer to Professor Nehf’s scholarship in “Shopping for Privacy Online: Consumer Decision-Making Strategies and the Emerging Market for Information Privacy,” which was published in the University of Illinois’ Journal of Law, Technology & Policy.
Professor Nehf is a Cleon H. Foust Fellow and a John S. Grimes Fellow. He teaches contracts, consumer law, European community law, and commercial law at IU McKinney.
