IU McKinney to Commemorate Constitution Day on September 16

Four faculty experts at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law will discuss recent United States Supreme Court Cases in commemoration of Constitution Day. The event will take place on September 16 at the law school.
Professor Shawn Boyne will discuss decisions related to the 4th Amendment. Professor Boyne is a former trial prosecutor and worked for several years as a defense attorney before entering the legal academy.
Professor Nicholas Georgakopoulos will discuss the swing votes of justices. He is a recent author with Professor Frank Sullivan, Jr., and Dimitri Georgakopoulos of an article on judicial coalitions and their impact on court decisions.
Professor David Orentlicher will discuss decisions related to reproductive rights. In addition to being the co-director of the William S. and Christine S. Hall Center for Law and Health and the Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law, he is an adjunct professor of medicine at the IU School of Medicine.
Professor Carlton Waterhouse will discuss equal protection. He is known internationally for his research and writing on reparations for historic injustices and state human rights violations. He currently serves as a member of the Indiana Advisory Committee to the United States Civil Rights Commission. He was recently named director of IU McKinney’s Environmental Energy and Natural Resources Program.
The event will take place in Room 300 at Inlow Hall from noon until 1:15 p.m. The program is free and open to the public, and 1.3 hours of CLE are available with a registration.
