IU McKinney to Commemorate Wrongful Conviction Day with Program October 2

Wrongful Conviction Day will be marked with a Continuing Legal Education program at IU McKinney featuring the lawyers who worked to free their wrongfully convicted clients and the people who have been exonerated. The event will take place in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall on October 2.
Professor Fran Watson, '80, who teaches in the Wrongful Conviction Clinic at IU McKinney, will present a talk titled "Wrongful Conviction Reform Efforts in Indiana." She will be introduced by exoneree Krissy Bunch. Professor Watson's talk will focus on efforts to reform evidence preservation and exoneree compensation in Indiana.
Dr. Mark Perlin, the founder of Cybergenetics, will present a lecture titled, "Probabilistic Genotyping to the Rescue for Pinkins and Glenn." He will be introduced by Roosevelt Glenn and Darryl Pinkins, both of whom were exonerated thanks to this technology. Attorney Stacy Uliana, '97, will discuss "Faulty Forensics in State v. David Camm." She will be introduced by her client, David Camm.
A final presentation, "Raising Awareness on Both Sides of the Fence," will be presented by Justis 4 JustUs, Inc. This discussion will be moderated by Krissy Bunch, and will feature Roosevelt Glenn, Darryl Pinkins, and David Camm.
The program will begin at 1 p.m. in the Wynne Courtroom, and will conclude at 5 p.m. A total of 3.0 hours of Indiana Continuing Legal Education credit is available with a required registration.
