Professor Terry Comments for "Washington Internet Daily"
03/02/2015
Professor Nicolas Terry talked about HIPAA in a news story in Washington Internet Daily titled “Role of HIPAA Questioned as Health Industry Goes Digital.” The item was published February 26.
“Our esteemed health and security privacy rules that go by the name of HIPAA do not protect most medical information that lives outside of traditional healthcare,” Professor Terry comments. He further points out that while the rules protect health information given to doctors, health insurers, and pharmacists, it “doesn’t do anything to protect health or wellness information you may have posted on Facebook or most apps on your phone.”
