Professor Terry and Other IU Professors Examine Legal and Ethical Questions Surrounding Google Glass
04/14/2015
Professor Nicolas Terry and two other Indiana University faculty members have published “Google Glass and Health Care: Initial Legal and Ethical Questions” in the Journal of Health and Life Sciences Law (J. Health & Life Sci. L., Feb. 2015 at 93).
The work examines informed consent requirements faced by users of Google Glass, and the fact that the device itself is not yet HIPAA compliant, while some of the applications developed for it are.
Professor Terry wrote the piece with Chad Priest, assistant dean for operations and community partnerships at the IU School of Nursing; and Associate Professor of Surgery Paul Szotek of the IU School of Medicine.
Professor Terry is the Hall Render Professor of Law and executive director of the Hall Center for Law and Health. His research interests lie primarily at the intersection of medicine, law, and information technology. His recent scholarship has dealt with health privacy, social media and health, big data, and health care fragmentation.
