Professor Terry Presents During International Congress on Law and Mental Health

Professor Nicolas Terry presented at the XXXIV International Congress on Law and Mental Health held at Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, Austria, July 12 through 17.
His first talk was part of a panel with the topic “Behavioural Epigenitics: Clinical, Legal and Ethical Implications.” Professor Terry’s subject was “Epigenetic Data and Health Information in the Legal Space.” Professor Tracy D. Gunter, associate professor of clinical psychiatry with the IU School of Medicine and an adjunct professor at IU McKinney, also was part of the panel and presented the topic “Overview of Modern Behavioural Genetics with Focus on Epigenetics.”
In addition, Professor Terry gave a talk titled "Health and Mental Health Data Privacy Issues" on a panel he arranged with the subject "Mental Health Exceptionalism." Professor Gunter presented on the topic “Mental Health Courts” as part of this panel.
Professor Gunter also presented “Neurocognitive Enhancement and Offenders” as part of a panel titled “Treatment Issues for Incarcerated Individuals Across the Life Cycle.”

Professor Terry is the Hall Render Professor of Law and executive director of the Hall Center for Law and Health. He also is a member of the Health IT Consumer Workgroup. His research interests lie primarily at the intersection of medicine, law, and information technology. His recent scholarship has dealt with health privacy, social media and health, big data, and health care fragmentation. He is one of the permanent bloggers at HealthLawProf and at Harvard Law School’s Bill of Health.
