Hall Center Event to Focus on Advance Care Planning
01/30/2017
An Indiana attorney with deep knowledge of elder law and the intricacies of advance care planning will present the first Hall Center Grand Rounds lecture for the Spring 2017 semester at IU McKinney.
The speaker for the February 2 Grand Rounds event will be Keith Huffman of the law firm Dale Huffman & Babcock. He will discuss the topic “Advance Care Planning for Your Health and Wealth in the Digital Age.” Huffman is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and has served as president of the Indiana Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is chairperson-elect for the Elder Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. He was the 2016 recipient of the Powley Award, an award that recognizes a National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys member who has demonstrated a commitment to promote a public understanding of the rights and needs of the elderly and disabled.
“The dramatic growth of our nation’s elderly population is not only responsible for the growth of the discipline of elder law but its increasing intersections with health law,” said Professor Nicolas Terry, executive director of the Hall Center for Law and Health. “The Hall Center faculty and students are privileged to be able to learn about advance planning from one of the nation’s top elder law attorneys.”
“Our students are eager to learn more about the growing field of elder law and the legal issues that impact our aging population,” said Amy Elson, assistant director of the Hall Center. “Keith Huffman’s Grand Rounds session will provide them an opportunity to think about how the issues they study in their classes are handled by experienced attorneys in this field.”
The event, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall, carries with it 1.0 hour of CLE with a registration. The program is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
