Max Mohr, a 3L at IU McKinney, is working on a project with the World Trade Center Indianapolis that will promote training to developing nations to help attract investment and trade. Mohr is researching, writing, organizing, and making contacts as he helps WTC Indy create a webinar on how countries can improve sovereign risk ratings. The work has the potential to increase Indiana’s trade options and assist developing and developed countries with economic expansion. The webinar is expected to take place in September 2021.

Professor Frank Emmert has incorporated the International Smart Mediation and Arbitration Institute (SmartArb) in Indianapolis. SmartArb responds to a need identified by the team behind World Trade Center Indianapolis, including its chair, Greg Zoeller, to have a specialized center for alternative dispute resolution affiliated with the organization. The goal is for SmartArb eventually to be located inside WTC Indianapolis.

IU McKinney entered into a cooperation agreement with VNU UEL that provides opportunities for professors and students at both schools for travel and scholarship. An IU McKinney delegation visited Vietnam in December 2016, which is when the agreement was signed.

IU McKinney Professors Shawn Boyne and Emily Michiko Morris met with officials from the Tajikistan Ministries of Defense and Cybersecurity in the Zhujiajiao section of Shanghai at a 100-year-old tea house, where they observed an ancient tea ceremony. The professors discussed hot topics in cybersecurity and intellectual property issues with the visiting dignitaries. The delegation from Tajikistan is visiting the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law as part of the university's mission to train government officials from Silk Road countries.
